What are the advantages of custom making a CMS?

You cant really beat a CMS like joomla and drupal that are being constantly developed.
The fact that you have all these modules really sweatens the deal.

But if you cant to modify the CMS your own will be so easy as you will know most of it off by heart.

Not actually a Joomla fan.
The structure behind it is actually fairly convoluted, makes it very hard to go under the hood and edit code.
Drupal is a lot better if you want to go advanced.
Drupals website is crap though.

As for a Custom CMS system, you can make them a lot more flexible and lightweight, and if you have written it youself its easier to make custom versions for specific clients.

I'm going to work on my own CMS, need the experience.
As I'm learning JS and Ajax I'm expecting it to be based around that mostly.

Already done the SQL layout using bubbl.us ;D.

Thats what i was about to say. Doing it yourself is easier, just my opinion.

I got my own CMS / Forum at http://www.darkmindz.com, its fully codded by me, and the advantages are alot..

main are:

- Uniqueness

- Secure, since its not open source, people cant really find exploits but by web hacking, and well it has a good security system.

- The way I want it, no extra features, no unused features.

Did you code the forum yourself as well?
also are you verifying user registration and have you checked it recently,
cause i registered and got a blank screen.

registeration should be working, please report any errors tho.

Awsome coding, I find the most secure thing to do in php is to stop any mysql/php errors poping up.
