I've always loved PC's on USB, ones that don't really rely upon your OS very much

I think there are probably better uses for that sort of hardware, I imagine you could modify one of those to run as a zombie fairly easily.

Wouldn't supprise me its not really like they are read only as it has to update.

I've head about these USB sticks which stop working when you remove something off them, like these ones that are used for advertising for vehicles etc, you remove the advert and its inaccessible.

I am a bit confused by this. how does it work? Just plug and play and you get a firewall?

I take it, you just plug it in and its like a seporate machine so it will start scaning your hard drive.

You plug it in and it installs drivers which redirect your traffic through the USB key, the key acts as a dedicated firewall.
Personally you get the same thing with a wireless router for the same price but a lot more functionality, and it lacks the advantage of a software based firewall such as asking which apps are allowed to access the internet.
As a firewall I think its a waste but I can imagine it could be usefull for something like having a linux PC on a stick which you could then access using something like VNC.
