I've used pirate copies of XP and legal copies on XP but it always seems even if I am cracking the WGA to get updates the machine always fucks up in some way or another.

But legal copies of XP I have a lot less trouble with, is it just me?

Depends on the copy you get, its very hard to get a decent pirated copy but if you do they can run very well.
