Is it best to purchase fonts rather than use free ones, so I'm designing a website and i would like to use a font in my image i choose one from like 1001freefonts.com would that be legal to use it or could the font be stolen in the first place?

This is why I've stayed away from using fonts because I don't know if i can use them for websites.

You want to use standard fonts, there is no point buying fonts if your end user dosnt have them installed.

I'm talking about using them in images though.

Well photoshop has a fairly good selection of Fonts built in.
You can also get free ones from deviantart.

I dont really see any benifit of buying fonts, especially with so many free ones available.
