This happens alot the hard disk seems to switch off, you can hear the noise of it turning off but this practicly pauses the complete computer stopping me from going anything when i look at the task manager the CPU it up and down the pause is very annoying lasts a long time and then it lets me do something for a very short while.

It mostly happens when i get the CPU usage upto 100%, my first thoughs are its a PSU problem not enough power, its a 550W PSU so I wouldn't think thats too small to run my PC 1.8ghz, 512 RAM, 2xCD drive, 2x hdd's.

Another issue is all these errors that are poping up about opera now and really pissing me off corrupt file cannt be read its doing this for all the cache data and it must have something to do with the above issue?

I would back up your important stuff ASAP.
Sounds like your hard drive is starting to fail.

I was worried it could be that, very bad time to have a hard drive fail, 1 spair which is like 10gb's, so its not going to be a complete back up :(.
norton ghost is no good without another hard drive lol, will just have to back up files for now.

Hard drives are dirt cheap man.
get yourself a new one.

it isn't cheap when you don't have any money ;D, I will have to complete this website and use the money from that to get me somewhere, really what I need is a brand new computer this one isn't good enough.

You can pick up a 100GB 2.5 inch Laptop hard drive in an external case for £40 quid.

I think i should get a external drive, the hard drive seems to have stopped cutting off now so I think I shall make the most of it and try to back up the most important things.
