i remember reading something on a news site about being about to use P2P clients for DDOS attacks, and at the moment Utorrent's mem and CPU usage is going crazy up and down up and down, could this be a sign that someones using me for a DOS attack?

Possibly, are you using antivirus?
Try checking with housecall online as well.

did a scan using AVG only found trojans but they don't have anything to do with it, also think i was running Avast! not sure when i uninstalled it now i think it was after the download.
