1  The IT Department / Linux OS Forum / Re: PC Linux Kicks Windows Ass _ The Vista Killer. on: August 02, 2007, 05:00:04 am
I now have PC Linux on a live CD Cheesy
Runs great, feels great.

Only problem..

I would like to install it - But heres the catch.

I don't want to install it on the same partition as my WXP install.

My harddrive, a WD 120 GB SATA is split into 2 partitions, one 80 GB and one 40 GB.

My WXP install is on the 80 GB one, and I was wondering if I could install PCLinux on the 40 GB partition and still boot from it Smiley

Sincerely

Damage

Nero followed with my pc, so yes, I have Nero. But I downloaded InfraRecorder and used that, since it's much more simple.

I know how to run LiveCD, thank you -___________-

I was merely asking how to burn it, but I succeded at doing it myself with InfraRecorder. This post is being posted on Sabayon Linux LiveCD with Konqueror.
Thanks for the help >D

All that pops up is this: http://img405.imageshack.us/img405/416/unavngivet1tw8.jpg

Maybe it's because I use firefox? Keep in mind that I know nothing about this Tongue

Stupid question incoming:

I use InfraRecorder, do I need to unpack the .rar file first or can I just choose "burn image to disc"?

Fujitsu Siemens Amilo SI 1848

Intel Core 2 Duo T7200 running at 2 ghz, providing 4,94 ghz.
2 gb of random Fujitsu ram
AtI Mobility Radeon X1300 running at 256 mb hypermemory
120 gb Fujitsu Siemens HD

Is that good enough? Tongue

Also ordered the 3 ubuntu cd's, will be here in some weeks. As I may have said, I suck at hardware and OS'es(Malware is my place in the world) so you guys may need to guide me through an install.

So, here I am, tired of windows and need to get a new OS. Since I have only heard great things about linux, I'm willing to try it out before going bananas and smashing my pc with a sledgehammer. I'm currently running a Fujitsu Siemens Amilo SI 1848 laptop with maxed configurations, WXP SP2.

There's a number of things I'm looking for, and they include:

-Ease of use(I've been running Windows for my whole life, and while it has served me good I need something new)
-A GUI
-Must be able to run Mozilla Firefox, Java and OpenOffice
-May be a liveCD or liveDVD, since I, for one, don't care as long as it works.

To date I've tried Knoppix LiveCD and LiveDVD, both of which only gave me a commandoprompt. I have also tried Mandriva One LiveCD and that also didn't work.

I would be very grateful if anyone could guide me through the jungle of linux distros and help me Smiley
