How much links should I gain every day to support site's PR? I submitted up to 30 directories per day and got PR4. When I stopped I was dropped to PR3

My site was dropped to PR3 and I noticed average PR of backlinks is lower now. It seems there is not any BL site whose PR was rised. But the some stats  shows 50/50. Is there something wrong? And, how does Google update PR without Bl update?

The both Webalizer and Google analytics show some increase my site's traffic for last three months. Despite it the Alexa ranking drops dramatically from 1.100.000 to 2.200.000 .What is the cause?
