Also Open Source have 2 alternatives
1. Xen http://www.cl.cam.ac.uk/research/srg/netos/xen/
2. Qmeu : http://fabrice.bellard.free.fr/qemu/

Probably are not so good/fast like VMware ... but for testing different things are GREAT !
