Actually America is the worst per head of population as well.
The US produces 25% of the worlds pollution with less than 5% of the worlds population.
They pollute 50% more per person than Europe which is the second worst, the UK is the worst in Europe.
The first world produces most of the worlds pollution with only 30% of the population.
This is mainly due to dependency on fossil fuel for power generation and the fact that people in the US drive a lot more than any other country.
The average African for example uses 1% the resources of an American.
Sorry, I know its not what you wanted to hear but we are almost as bad in the UK.
