hits are irrelevant. one visit to one page often adds over 10-15 hits. A hit is just a file request from the server, so for every image that is requested from a page - it adds a hit on.
Its depends on the web developer and their skills for seo. You get seo specialists but its mostly a lot of guess work these days - especially with google.
Additionally, you get very minimal traffic from search engines anyway depending on the type of site you run. You really do need advertising which is why i'm struggling at n2kdesign. The site doesn't make me any money because i don't charge for anything - therefore i can't afford to advertise it.
