The specs are more than powerful enough, the question is, with such new hardware components, which linux distros will have drivers for your hardware.
I would try Sabayon myself, I just started using it and its really cool, and since its new should have good driver support.
also, you will want the 64 bit version of Sabayon.
Its a real Vista / Mac killer.
The Beryl interface knocks spots of Vista and OS X together (once you enable it fully).
