Or you can just do what I would do.
I have web elements embedded into my shell backgrounds, some of which connect to a webserver I run.
All I need to do if my machine gets stolen is check to see when the files my Laptop request get accessed, pull up the IP number, then VNC in and do whatever I want to do.
Simple, free and under my personal control.
