Danger or no danger?

Just cleared one of my friend's PC of virus. It seems that some of the viruses are detected and since nowadays a lot of "viruses" come with a spyware component and Norton can't detect it! It detected the virus but allowed the spyware to be installed. Spent a hour trying the clear the crap out of his system. What an headache.
