It's possible that the name server has a set if IP addresses and randomly gives one out each time it gets a request.  This would mean that you only get one each time but it may be a different one each time.

I get 216.8.177.24 when I dig for popgrp.vbqn.com so I'm not sure what you were seeing.

It's certainly possible for domains to have more than one...

# dig google.com
