They have made 3.5" SSD's which can go upto and over 200GB's.

The 64GB one you are reffering to I believe is the PCI card, and you can also get 64GB flash drives.

I believe SSD can offer much more relyability especially in laptops, have you ever dropped a flash drive and had it break, nope because SSD is not damage by being dropped etc.
