So its obvious their getting closer, so whats your opinion on them?
Their are a number of advantages which I have to say are brilliant.
Like the fact it would get rid of traffic jams well a lot of them as computers can re-route cars or even use a lot of methods to stop jamming which no one will follow because a lot of drivers think the closer you get to the car in front the faster you get out.
But yeah it could have much better reaction times if something wanders out infront.
Can read while your driving or even eat not so good the eating part for the americans.

Personally I would love it, if your commuting to work it offeres so many advantages.

I believe the latest story was on BMW developing GPS controlled cars.
Their are also a lot of so called races where vehicles must navigate themselves around a specified track.
I saw a documentary on one and it was amazing a lot of them where completely coded in VB with very high powered computers on board, they had things like laser's radars all ways looking at whats ahead and checking the surface, it was just amazing at what these things do.

they're testing self-driving cars at lot of airports now, as sort of taxis around the place. They'r elike a cross between cars and those robots that bump of things an dthen learn the make up of a room. I think they follow a line painted on the tarmac as well.

Yeah they built some of these a while back, they used to follow a magnetic signal around the roads.
I don't like the idea of having robots near anything that contains a lot of fuel and has a extreemly powerful engine .

I saw one on top gear that had radar controled acceleration so it keeps speed with the veichle in front.
Clarkson was trying it out and he was able to pull up behind a car at a roundabout without touching the pedals.
It was the latest merc S class I believe.

I wouldn't dare buy a merc which a radar, knowing mercedes the radar will fail as your pulling upto a roundabout , god their cars have so many problems!
But I can't wait to see more of these cars on roads I would love one that could drive me from a to b with no trouble but if their relying on gps they need to be more capable of not getting you lost.

I have heard from someone that they arnt that good, personally I think you will be waiting a very long time to replace the human driver.

Their fine if you have enough space for all the computer power, but with companys trying to make these things smaller and hide them you loose all that quality and it becomes harder.
But I also think its a bad idea, if you just happened to rob a bank and trying to make a get away how do you plan on getting away in one of those .

It comes only in white and costs 50% more than any other car of the same performance, but it looks pretty.
