Ahhhh no more music

Well not really ahhh lost it all like a month ago, I just have some time to fix it now.

So I used my external HDD to backup music from a bust HDD a while back, I tried to install WinXP leaving it in and some how it fucked my drive up.

When I boot up HBCD it just shows my drive as a error and its just 000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 you get what I mean (I hope).

So I have no partitions to recover (tried), what can I do its like 30GB of music .

Is it just messed up when you try to boot from it or can you stick it into an external casing and access the data?
have you tried a linux live CD?

It could just be the partition table that is damaged. I once recovered the data from a disc which had it's partition table damaged using just plain old DOS. I copied the files into another drive. But all the filenames went haywired but at least I got the files back.

Its already a external drive, some how its magically formatted itself so I cannot access anything the MBR is corrupt and I take it the backup MBR is as well.
I've reformatted it now, and I'm beginning scraping all my music together from old broken HDD's.
