Not really, as einstein said its all relative, you cant know happiness till you experience some hardship to give you perspective.
The reason for buddhisim is so that a bunch of monkeys with poor memories can attempt to keep alive what little knowledge they gleaned from an enlightened guy hundreds of years ago while striving for the same level of knowledge themselves.
Attempting to renounce the ego so they may become enlightened "which is a somewhat egotistical thing to try to do"
