What effects do you use on your photos.

OK I was just wondering, with regards to model shots and natural shots.
What filters, modifications and effects do you use on your photos?

I don't do any modifications to any of my shots with the exception of the occasional exposure adjustment and colour saturation increase.

For bw portraits, I switch the camera to bw mode - I don't do any converting later on.

The only filters I use are polorisers and neutral density filters for landscape shots

Why dont you convert to black & white later on?

because I don't feel that you can get the same depth as you can straight from the camera.

I alway take a colour version alongisde the bw versions tho.

I would like to see a shot comparison to see if there is a noticable difference.
Im shooting with film so thats not something I can do.

There is a noticable difference between converting to black and white in photoshop and using black and white film (beware of the "bogus" bw film!).

Bogus BW film.
Never come across that?

Bogus BW film is basically color film (same chemical process as color) that attempts to be BW so the 1-hour photo places can process BW with the same equipment/chemicals/process as the usual color film. It's basically designed for average consumers who aren't professionals but want BW.

I have seen pictures taken with it and they always have a purple or a greenish tone to it.

I always use Fuji or Kodak film myself.

I use mostly Ilford HP5 for my BW stuff

Jeremie, colour casts on prints may not have anything to do with the film itself. Since the machines use colour paper and colour inks it is very hard to get a totally neutral print.

I get this all the time with digital B&W shots.. But a good lab should be able to print decent b&w prints from any media, it just a matter of finding that lab
