USB dongle wasteing space?

So I purchased a USB dongle off ebay. and the circuit board is like half the size of the case!!!
What is the point in that, its just wasting space its also rather fat again pointless!

ah which one you get? I got a spiffy linksys usb adapter(WUSB54G) for my wireless security wep cracking final I like the sucker, too bad the range is f'ing garbage. But it works well in bt2f haven't tested in bt3. Sold my laptop to an ex-friend, who inherently took my ex-girlfriend while he was at it, so I haven't had time to play with bt3's wireless yet. Putting it on a desktop seemed pointless being as there are no AP's in my apartment complex

Brilliant range, suddely picked up 4 WEP AP's so 4 guesses at what I've been doing .
