Last Modified header data and SEO

Google uses 2 ways to determine if a page has been updated since the last visit.
First it checks the last modified header data of the file and if it finds a new date it will spider the page.
Second, it will spider the page after a given ammount of time anyway just in case fresh content has been created via a dynamic feed.
If it finds fresh content it will continue to spider the page regularly.
Using this method google can determine between a manual web page update and content pulled from a database or an RSS feed.
How this affects the rankings is hard to tell but it is believed by many people that google puts slightly more weight on manual updates as opposed to auto generated content as it is harder to spoof.

Hmmm......interesting.
Shows that dynamic sites will get index less often than static sites.
But I find that it is weird Google does this way. More often than not, dynamic sites are updated more regularly than static sites.
