Not even directory submission?
I think directory submission do work. It has helped me a lot. But of course, getting natural links is the best.

I never do directory submissions to the main site anymore.
Havnt done any in a long time.
I might build a half a dozen targeted links a month if Im feeling proactive.
Quality over quantity.  Wink

I used a few of my SEO tricks, focused on content and quality links over quantity and spent enough time generating content and links in the right places.
