Yep, its here, the Vista Killer.
I have always been a big fan of Linux but this is the first linux distro I have tested that has the power to take the windows market.
It has better graphics than Vista and Macintosh OSX Combined, and its way faster.
PC Linux is the second most popular Linux Disro after Ubuntu, and its easily the best.
I have been playing with this for a couple of weeks, and I am Very Impressed, below is a photo/screen shot of PC Linux on my laptop with the beryl 3D interface activated.

This distro runs as fast from a live CD as windows XP will from the harddrive, has fantastic hardware support, and some really cool software
Firefox (better than IE7), G.I.M.P (Graphics Image Manipulation Program - Free Photoshop ), Beryl (kick ass 3D interface - Shown Above.), The Apache webserver, ktorrent, and dozens more.

It has everything windows and OSX have, plus a lot more, great support, for flash and multimedia built in, the Konqueror web/file browser kicks windows explorers ass, the coolest feature I think has to be the MP3/Music preview function, this plays the song you are moused over so you can her what it sounds like, (a sort of thumbnail for music function), the Beryl 3D Interface makes OSX and Vista look like DOS and the stability and speed make me it feel like I have an extra half a gig of ram installed, and its simple to use.
This is the first time I have ever said this, microsoft is in trouble, with distros like this out there, there is nothing in microsofts bag of tricks, that can match the PC Linux / Beryl Combo.

I don't really find beryl that good, I can do without it Smiley I guess it wouldn't be bad if you had a good PC but for now i dont :p.
I think XP is safe on this box at the moment.

On a 1.7ghz machine it should run very fast.
PC Linux is way faster than Sabayon.
I just completed a full harddrive install in 10 minutes.
This is the one.

sabayon was really slow on my pc, gave up on it its a nice design just too slow.

I've been tempted to try pclinux before i can't remember why i didn't, might as well give it a go on a spare machine, is it a live disk?

Yes it is.
Runs fairly fast from CD as well, takes a couple of min to boot, but its well worth it.
remember to enable beryl after boot.

I don't know why, but Linux never seem to work for me, especially on a desktop. Sure, some distros are very good as my web/email server but Linux desktop distros seemed to hate my guts so much.

I now have PC Linux on a live CD Cheesy
Runs great, feels great.

Only problem..

I would like to install it - But heres the catch.

I don't want to install it on the same partition as my WXP install.

My harddrive, a WD 120 GB SATA is split into 2 partitions, one 80 GB and one 40 GB.

My WXP install is on the 80 GB one, and I was wondering if I could install PCLinux on the 40 GB partition and still boot from it Smiley

Sincerely

Damage

Yeah, Should be no problem.
PC Linux has a built in Boot Loader (actually you get a choice of 2)

It doesn't like being on CD for some reason you have to put it onto a DVD then run it I've found.
Only thing I've found is I cant use beryl on the laptop due to its old hardware would have been nice to use though.

Okay, I can't seem to find if they made a 64bit version of PCLinuxOS. Anyone know? I currently use Sabayon, but well, compiz died, and then resolution crapped out. I'm at the point that it's not worth keeping a freshly installed sabayon, if PCLinuxOS is just as good, if not better.

I used to use sabayon, it feels like a beta PcLinux.
PClinuxOS is  32 bit distro, there are kernels for it that are optimized for the amd 64 processor instructions but that will not make your system a 64 bit operating system, it probably make it run faster(not sure how much but faster however 64 bit processors very rarely get used fully, I would say it will be faster than sabyon if you get it running ok)
Im still on  a dual core 32bit pentium so I cant tell you what application support on the 64 bit system would be like though.
I would give it a try if I were you though.
Just let us know how you get on.

My main PC had trouble running sabayon was a right hog.
PCLinux is really good for complete computer novices, it really gives you all the options you could ever ask for without ever opening terminal.

But I still sticking to my guns and saying kubuntu, my all time favorite and is running on my pc's and laptops Grin.
KDE rocks, Gnome sucks.
Another reason pclinux is good runs kde.
