DVD decryption is actually fairly spotty on Linux.
However if you want to you could try http://www.transcoding.org/ with the dvd::rip frontend
or mencoder with one of these frontends http://www.mplayerhq.hu/design7/projects.html#mencoder_frontends
or, lxdvdrip, K9Copy, or one of the many other apps out there.
I still use windows for DVD backup myself.
