yeah we have all heard the propaganda about nuclear, what do you think of it should the uk go nuclear or green? personally i think brown can stick it up his arse and i will be with green peace all the way  . It is safe yes it is expensive yes it contains more jobs yes. but green is safe it is cheaper and easier to maintain, we will be using things that are already given to the earth. nuclear waste is just silly it can take thousands of years untill you can even get close to it without being protected and currently their is a lot of waste held in storage facilities how long will it be untill that isn't maintained correctly let me guess untill the next election is over. |

Its even worse than that. The UK is going nuclear so that they can charge money for electricity. If they invested in renewable energy the cost of electricity production would drop significantly once the cost of building the plant had been recouped. With Nuclear they can use the excuse that Uranium prices are expensive and difficult to refine. Plus uranium prices will increase as demand increases. Its all about charging you for something that should be cheap/free. its stupid how they think they can get away with this!
I want to do some more research on this, a while a go i recall them saying that in the future they would tax home solar panels and wind turbines etc.

Wow, they really dont want people to think for themselves or act outside the system.
Thats fairly bad.
I dont think they can do that much though without it being totally obvious.
I would just switch to a green/renewable electricity provider myself.
Let them deal with the government then.

Perhaps, but then its a simple case of switching to another provider.
There are a long list of renewable energy companies.
And the main thing they are marketing themselves on is being grener then the others.
Vote with your wallet.

I can accept that going green is extreamly expensive and the cost of electricity would skyrocket, because each renewable energy source produces far less electricity than a nuclear power station.
I don't think we should have as many nuke factories as they suggest though. And if we do, someone needs to be shot. Seriously. This could have all been predicited a decade ago and investments made then to investigate how to improve renewable energy production quantities. They're only doing this now. They'll do the same when the oil runs out. Closing the door after the horse has bolted???
Anyway, I accept that we need an increase in nuclear power stations. But why don't we do as much with renewables as we can and then use nuclear to fill the gap??

going green is the cheaper option! it takes shorter time to build and it doesn't cost much to maintain if you compair this to nuclear it is a massive difference! nuclear power is bad for everyone you will be paying more on all your bills for a load of bollocks, read all the above . |

a turbine can be manufactured easily allowing them to mass produce them.
a power plant is easily built takes thousands of workers to build the damn thing, then after that you will still be employing thousands of people to maintain the power plant.
The estimate for the first power station is to be built in 2017 and the whole fleet of nuclear powerstations they want to build will be completed in 2030 but only filling 3.6% are you kidding me? So are you saying that is good!
2017 we could have thousands of turbines producing tonnes more power than that.
in Dubai they are constructing a floating island which will contain a mass of solar panels which i believe is around half a mile, solar panels are now becoming much more sophisticated and they have realised that do you see them having plans for more nuclear power stations and they are a very popular place!

The government is worried that in 2015 we will be using too much electricity and are making you believe we need nuclear to fill that gap which is not true as you can see above to fill this gap we will have to use turbines and solar panels etc.

A wind turbine will generally cost about £10,000 pounds
A nuclear power plant will cost £1-2 Billion (£1,000,000,000 pounds).
Plus a Nuclear plant has large running costs that a wind turbine wont have.
