So a shopping cart system i helped make is closing due to not making any money.
I was thinking of offering to take it over and give it back when I am earning some money from it.
Does anyone think this is a good idea, i think it can be a potential goldmine.
Is it easy to promote a e-commerce site?

Ok, the design needs a lot of smoothing around the edges.
Plus I would stick in a main site with a lot of information about the benifits of specific crystals, and then have the shop on top of that, try to make it look informative, then when you have convinced people of the benifits of the product, you have a discreet "you can buy here" link.

yeah I'm planning on moving it to zen cart and then redesigning it as now I can do what i like  . i will be taking it to the main page  . I will be learning a lot more about crystals so I can add much more information so its better for SEO. I'm not too sure if i can really make it look more 'informative' if i use zen cart, guess if i hide more of the pricing's and place say a description on it that might work. could be fun . |

Stick Zen Cart in a Directory.
Have the main directory for the Information part.

I was more concerned about my site, didn't do much I think it was more for her stall.
shop has been going around a year now.
I think it has maybe 2 good visitors which I hopfuly will mail and get them back try and spread it by word of mouth, maybe start up a affiliate program to drag in more people.

Might also try having a few sites, and a few affiliate programmes, etc.
spread the net wide.
dont have all your eggs in one basket.
You will probably never make a fortune from just one website, but it could be a nice little revenue stream on the side.

I agree. Affiliate program will definitely boost it. If its possible, i would recommend giving it another shot.

Sure its possible, I think if I invest a lot of money into it at the start i can come out on top. Think i just need to borrow some money . I've just googled online crystal shop, and I'm gonna have fun kicking their arses out of google! |

I would actually recommend not investing your life savings into this.
I know a couple of people who run actual shops selling this sort of stuff and the return and market is fairly small.
How many healing crystals will someone actually buy?
The site would serve much better as a portfolio shop that makes a bit of cash.
Keep it for your portfolio, do a bit of work on it untill you have made a decent conversion rate with your existing traffic.

the main idea is to persist in doing something.. maybe it is a good idea to close it.. but on my opinion you should work harder to succed in promoting yourself..think more about it
