I think the 3 best non-seo ways to market your website are:-
1. Google adwords / yahoo search marketing. pay-per-click.
2. A newsletter/ blog/ podcast if you have one. AS this will bring recurring visitors.
3. posting on forums.
Any other ideas?

maybe try offline advertising, like handing out leaflets, cant really cost much, or maybe a advert on your local radio station.

Depends on the site. You would be surprised how effective a few flyers or a spraycan can be.

It depends on whether you are prepared to pay money. Word of mouth ?

If you have good enough content that should come naturally.

its like they say you've got to spend money to make money.
Offline advertsing can be good. what about attaching signs to lamposts etc (be careful laws on this vary from state to state and even regionally in the UK).
A good example of offline advertsing is postign flyers on club notice boards etc, if the website is related to the town or the club scene.

TV and Radio is good if you have the right product, but I think SEO is the best way to go.

I can't agree with you on that one. Out of the 20 or so sites I am responsible for, only about 3% of traffic comes from them in total.

I think it depends, SEO is good for free traffic if you put in the time. unfortunately the top 10% end up getting 90% of the traffic. So you have to be the best to see the results.

Yeah but it takes a long time to take effect. it can take anything from a month to a year to rank for specific terms.

yeah, seo is more of a marathon and less of a sprint nowadays. it pays off big time though when you get it right, easily the cheapest form of advertising in the world when done right (or you get lucky).
