The float method to build a site I always seem to run into trouble with.

How do I make it so that the content will continue pushing the background down?

the attatched pic will try and help my question.

so say I float the sidebar to the right, and not the content it will follow the content but not the sidebar due to the fact its floating.

I could use tables but its the easy way out.
