Was wondering do ISP's really look for hackers?
If i wanted to do some practicing like on a friends machine, would this be a bad idea on my lan?

Your ISP might notice, but generally most wont bother unless you are doing something really big and using a load of bandwidth/resources.
However if its on a LAN its fine anyway.

Yes, I think they won't bother.
But unless the other side starts to complain, they probably will have to take action.

Actually ISPs are generally fairly good unless you piss off someone big.
If the cops or some huge company involved you would probably be in trouble, but if its just some dude from a small business complaining you would probably be fine.

Ohh this really takes me back.
When I was younger (like 16 or something, 21 now) I launched a DDOS on a major net, I have learnt a lot since then but back to the point, I didn't really cover my tracks (spoof IP's or anything) I just new enough to sucessfully launch a DDOS, ohh... and enough botz - whilst doing so I got remotely shut down by my ISP, I didn't even know they could do that but it was funny though.

Yeah its not a good idea to do any form of attacks from your home pc.
