Custom Arcade Machine

So I'm starting a new project in my free time. I'll be building my own arcade machine with an old box laying around(my 1.2Ghz  ) and using xmame and wahcade as a front end. I'll be doing some keyboard hacks to wire up the joystick and push buttons. Now the thing is, the tech stuff I can do no problem, I need help coming up with a decent design/layout for the controller board(forgot the name of it been up all day/night) where the joystick and buttons go. Also I need a theme to pain the sides and control board, as well as what to etch on the marquee. So if anyone has any suggestions, or is good with graphic design that would be up for helping, I'd greatly appreciate it, because I'm drawing a blank right now. I don't have any dimensions in mind yet so I can't give you specifics, but it will be at least six foot and the control board will have either 2 joysticks and 6 buttons for each player, or 4 joysticks and 3 per, not sure yet as I haven't decided on which games I'd play the most So again, any ideas would be awesome

you just going to emulate the old snes games etc?
I would of just stripped down a snes and hot glued it to a box.

I used to have a joystick and buttons off a old arcade machine, wouldn't supprise me if you could get them off ebay.

If you did the snes you could strip the controller apart and convert it to the joysticks and buttons, which would be the a+b and normal up down left right.

I would say for a design rip off a old game like street fighter and put that on the side of it.

Have you built a wooden box for it, or is it like something off a scrap yard?

I mean a stand up full sized arcade machine. And mame can run tons of different systems games so I don't think it will be from just one system, but it will mostly be fighting games, and maybe a couple side scrollers. I would go with the 2 joystick 6 button idea.
And surely you can print off a few different designs and change them as you see fit.

I was thinking 2 joy/6 button as well. And for the design thing, I was just looking for some simple concepts, only thing I have floating in my head is like a light/dark good/evil theme, perhaps with dragons or something, but meh, I can't draw for sh!t so that wouldn't work. It wouldn't turn out so great. Also maybe some cool color themes? Other than RvB

Zachery The admin there posts/ed on here occasionally.
They have a couple of ok graphics designer there, mostly kids who spend all day watching manga, playing games and designing manga graphics.
