I think Eee pc has a real competitor now!
http://technology.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/tech_and_web/personal_tech/article3374812.ece?Submitted=true

the cloudbook was shite i would say compared to eee, their is a few others but none match upto the eee.
the detachable screen on this I think it could be a winner.

Define special people?
I would say everyone.
Was playing with the Eee PC the other day, I really like the size of it, its really light and handy.
Apparently its really taking off as well.

A few months ago, everyone was talking about the asus epc in my office. And when I told them that it doesn't come with Windows, they looked pretty shocked.

You say that like it's a bad thing? Tongue Force people to try different operating systems. If they always use windows, they always will, and microsoft wins Tongue

A lot of windows users are using the Eee PC, and I doubt most of them even have a clue on how to install XP on the damn thing, considering the only option is Flash drive or SD card.

What pisses me off now is that microsoft are trying to go open source to jump on the bandwagon!
But I think its good news for the wine team though, I can't wait to get windows apps running on linux (well).

Yes, you should realize that not everyone is IT inclined. Not everyone wants to learn a new operating system. Heck, give a regular guy a Vista system and he will find it a bit off, especially if he has been using Xp for a long time. I guess it is just that people are resistant to change.

Well your not going to get a laptop anyway as cheap using windows, cause XP & Vista cost way to much, and both are not as fast as Linux, plus since the OS is xanderos based it supports a load of windows aplications. I think this is the best option Asus could have picked.

No doubt about that.
But they market it wrongly though. A lot of females thought that it would be cool to have the Asus eepc, but they seem lost with the OS.

Well its simply a case of getting used to something new.
Its just as simple to use as windows for the most part.

I have to say Windows really is a great system especially for the general users, but its main problem is.
Do you want to quit this application?
Are you sure you clicked yes?
Application will not close.

              End Now

*blue screen of death*

Linux is not yet ready for every day laptop users that want more than just documents or browsing the internet.

The gOS project looks to lack the developer base of xanderos and other big distros.
