Been having a look at this, it actually generates search engine friendly flash websites.

Can a flash website be SEO friendly?

Looking at the Merc website, if you view source I see nothing their except links which doesn't seem to be seo friendly?

Yeah the merc website has very little content on the front page.
Take a look at some of the other ones like ghost town or visuellinteractive

you will see there is some html body content in there as well.
Plus they are using the anchor hash replacement technique like I do for the seo optimised Ajax.

Saying that though, while the framework provides a method for seo friendly flash site (not I said friendly not optimised)
most flash designers wont know crap about seo and they probably wont care because Gaia is designed for creative types not developers.
So you can have title tags, meta tags, seo friendly links and page content but you will still be missing stuff like image alt text.
However its an improvement on the usual flash crap.
I still prefer hybred sites with HTML content though and flash elements because most of the full flash sites I have seen here do take a long time to load but thats the flash developers fault, not the framework.

the hashes, oooohhh you have #/ which is then counted as a directory by google?
THAT is what I've been looking for for some ajax, I've seen sites like asos.com and they use the # which tricked me for a bit, and I thought google don't bother using hashes, but you've put the slash in which can i take it google reads that?

Ignore me I think i understand you.

So basically you create a "static page" and a ajax page.
and just display the static for google.

the #replacement technique using Ajax calls the name of the page using the pagename after the #

so you have a file called ajaxcontent.html and you want to load the html from that file into a secion of your webpage, or even replace the entire body content, your ajax link can look like normal-link.html#ajaxcontent and the ajax will get the name after the # and add the default extension you specify in your script to the end, eg , .html or .php or even appending the #name to a dynamic variable like page.php?content=ajaxcontent then it fetches that html file and loads it into the div.

This is esentially used to make search engine friendly ajax urls with working back buttons.
What this framework seems to be doing is creating something similar for flash.
