Yeah the merc website has very little content on the front page.
Take a look at some of the other ones like ghost town or visuellinteractive
http://www.visuellinteractive.com/you will see there is some html body content in there as well.
Plus they are using the anchor hash replacement technique like I do for the seo optimised Ajax.

most flash designers wont know crap about seo and they probably wont care because Gaia is designed for creative types not developers.
So you can have title tags, meta tags, seo friendly links and page content but you will still be missing stuff like image alt text.
However its an improvement on the usual flash crap.
I still prefer hybred sites with HTML content though and flash elements because most of the full flash sites I have seen here do take a long time to load but thats the flash developers fault, not the framework.
