Open Office Versus Word

I have been playing around with open office recently and although it has a few nice features, like the ability to save documents in PDF format, its main flaw is that it displays document elements like tables slightly differently to MS word.
So while its great for reading word docs, saving files to PDF, etc you really have to keep in mind that if your working on a document it may show up somewhat diferently in word as opposed to Open Office.
So if you are creating a document like a CV in open office I recomend you export it to PDF in order to ensute that the person who ends up reading it is looking at it in the same format as you.
In sumation, Open Office writer compares well to MS word, excels in some areas but is let down in a few areas.

OO have only one small problem: It's starts slowly
But in the same time It have one big advantage: It's Free.

So I prefer to have a small problem

yeah, Open Offic eis nice but its soo slow to load.

Have any of you ried AbiWord? Its free, quick loading, but the only downside is it doesn't copy and paste images fromw ebpages onto the writing page.

Yeah i've used open office properly now and it really can be slow sometimes, AbiWord it doesnt really have many good features i prefer open office.

Feature wise, MS Office is probably the best.
But as with all MS products, it is too costly. Retail for MS Office basic is S$500 over!!
