If you want to access stuff without them watching you, you may want to try SSH tunneling.

Hey thats how I learned about security.
Taking apart my college network.
But be smart about it.

Smartest thing to do is use a Linux boot CD for your fun or create a new login thats not traceable.
But watch out if they are watching you.

Might be easier to find a wifi network arround and use that instead.

Yeah but i don't have a laptop Cheesy, all the pcs in the college are 'ghosted' as well, not too sure what it means but to boot from cd rom i would also need to hack the bios which is simple enough only problem is getting to a computer with noone around :p

Ghosted means there is a master image of how the machines are supposed to be configured and this image is ghosted onto the harddrives of the machines every night ensuring that they are all the same.

You can get a USB wifi keyring for about £20.

Nah, one PC has its setup copied over to al the other PCs.
Now if you managed to access the Setup image though you could change the settings on every machine.  Grin

You consider yourself a good password hacker then, because colleges and institutions are religious about protecting the cmos in most instances. Only way around it would be to throw the cmos clear jumper, which you'd have to track down on the motherboard as its specific for each model.
