Limited Companies and Umbrella Companies

Well I have been using umbrella companies for a while but am starting to get pissed off with them.
For the record, anyone out there thinking of using Prosperity4 or Oxygen360 might want to pick another one.
now they work great in theory, they act as a limited company for you, invoice the company you work for and calculate you tax and expenses.
But often in practice they dont work so well.
Prosperity4 and 360 are two that I would not recommend.
I am trying out a new one soon and will let you know how I get on with them.

You get a contract, send them your timeshet, they invoice the company or agency your working for, you fill in expenses online and mail them the reciepts.
they work out your tax, pay it for you and transfer the rest of the money into your account.

Just ring them and ask them.
it should be possible, they would have to invoice your client though.
Which could be handy.
They may have age restrictions though.

Well you could always get an agent.
Someone who knows the business, how to invoice customers, can talk the lingo and pull in business, then let the work up to you.

I don't even know if i should start a website design company up, I'm not much of a pro :p.

You dont need to start a company or even register a company untill your making over £50,000 a year, you can just trade as whatever name you want untill then, freelance, contract, etc
I would focus on getting a good site portfolio together for when you do turn 18 and can start contracting properly, and if you make money in the meantime, so be it.
Would also focus on getting SEO & W3C on your portfolio as well.
Plus Good photoshop/flash and graphics skills.
Do it because you love it.

Yeah But you can just pay tax like a regular Joe.
There are probably even a couple of umbrella companies that will take you on.
The trick is finding the right one.
I would just focus on designing and getting clients.
The rest will follow when it needs to.
