I saw a post recently on another law being passed in the US. The law (HR 5319) demands that all schools, libraries and other public internet access terminals to ban access to social networking websites. This means that people won’t be able to access their LiveJournal, MySpace, Friendster, LunarStorm, PhotoBucket, AOL and hundreds of other websites and forums. basically, anywhere where you can express an opinion. This blatent attempt to curtail freedom of speach is hiding behind a supposed laws to combat online predators but in actual fact is simply a way of the US goverment to censor online activities and freedom of speech. There is an online petition at www.saveyourspace.orgA bbc article can be read here Social networking sites force US banSo the bad news is, if you own or post or read a blog, which you obviously do, this law will affect you. Express your opinion, do you want this to happen, sign the petition, post this article on your blog, forum or anywhere else you can. Dont let them take away freedom of speech online. Source

My govt during the recent election banned political podcast! They are so fearful of this blog thing, that recently, a blogger had his column shut down.

america is the "land of the free" run by some of the most notorious controlling leaders of all time. I'm not surprised they're doing that, you're two steps and a jump away from ending up like china.
They must have loved 9/11 it gave them all the excuses they needed to take away your freedom without a fight...

I am guessing they either had a hand in it, or let it happen. probably the latter.

nah, I don't think any american would ever have a hand in something like that or even let it happen. what they will do is use the situation to their advantage to make a profit, I guess it's caled capitalism...

I remember when that all happened. I was working for an electrical retail store at the time and we were ordered to take all copies of Microsoft Flight Sim off the shelves because people were trying to recreate the tradegy in the game.
Also the game was used by the pilots for practice runs.

Well they either let it happen, or they let it happen. Corrupt or Inept. wait, I forgot secret option c Both
Dubya was just iching for an excuse to go after Iraq, I think he let it happen. Explains why he sat in a classroom for 7 minutes after being told about the attack. Either that or he was still wresteling with the plot of the childrens book he was reading. But I think to many people assume he is just a retard. I think he is a dangerous nationalistic warmongering redneck. and that is much worse IMHO.

Not all countries. Neutral countries are not to bad. Generally the goverment cant go to war to distract the population from how bad they are. Ireland, New Zealand, Austria. all reasonably cool countries with regards the goverment. sure you get the odd backhander and bribe but at least no one gets killed.

I doubt the irish government could be said to be neutral or cool. they'll be doing shady deals with the IRA etc when no one's watching. they'd be just like the UK government.
