I was actually thinking of that but i chose Hackers: Heroes of the Com... I was reading the reviews on it from amazon and they said it was good if your interested in the history. But the reviews on Hacking: The Art of Exploitation where saying you should be a programmer to read it :p plus it cost more Grin.

Well if you want to go from Newbie to Skilled Scripter I recommend Hacking exposed 1-3, (4 was crap)
Teaches you from basic to advanced.
Only thing is its not cheap but the CDS that come with the book are loaded with tools
3 is probably the best one with the most up to date tools.
4 just had a DVD and it wasnt that good. (mainly rehashing)

The CD is worth it on its own just for everything you get on it.

Well thats not very nice, hackers arn't all bad.
the word hacker doesn't mean someone who steals data.

'hacker' books are actually interesting to read you can learn all about protecting your network.

Wow, thats harsh
Hackers are ok, crackers, spammers and script kiddies are the real threat.

This is true, but a lot of script kiddies are wannabe hackers who will launch a DOS attack/virus without a second thought for kicks.
I consider someone who is at a script kiddie level but is smart enough to learn how stuff works and wont press that key/button without good justification to be a different (and all to rare) breed.
Most script kiddies generally claims to be a leet hacker and uses lots of posturing and leetspeek where as a n00b hacker/cracker actually learns how stuff works and waits until an opportunity arises to use those skills in a non destructive/constructive way.

Hacking is not about destruction, its about freedom of information.
